Description

PERMA-HAND™ Suture is a nonabsorbable, sterile surgical suture composed of natural silk, an organic protein. It is classified as a braided suture, offering high pliability and excellent handling characteristics during surgical procedures. The black coloration provides enhanced visibility against tissue, supporting precision in placement and closure.

The silk fibers are carefully processed to remove natural waxes, gums, and impurities. This refining process improves the purity and uniformity of the material, optimizing its biological compatibility and reducing tissue reactivity. Despite being nonabsorbable, PERMA-HAND™ undergoes gradual proteolytic degradation in vivo over time but remains functionally persistent for extended tissue support.

The suture is coated with a proprietary wax blend that enhances handling and knot security. This coating reduces fraying and surface friction, which facilitates smooth passage through tissue and allows for consistent, secure knots. The coating also minimizes capillarity, thereby reducing the potential for fluid absorption and microbial wicking along the suture line.
